FRED W. VC VAN CLEAVE Brandon Sees bigger story I wouldn't be surprised if the next time I look up the word whitewash in the dictionary it will have a footnote referring me to your article on Abdul Rao ( Ex-USF official won't be charged, June 3). I think the bigger story here is Rao's involvement and distribution of grant money, and that too is being conveniently forgotten.

Ex-USF official won't be charged
State Attorney Mark Ober announced the decision Tuesday, saying his office would not charge Abdul Rao, a USF senior associate vice president who resigned after a security camera caught him and another man taking a student's bike. Rao is glad this is over, said his attorney, Stephen Romine. He said Rao tried to persuade him to back up his story.

USF Dean Faced Firing Had He Not Resigned
Had Abdul Rao not resigned from the University of South Florida, the university would have fired him due to his lack of judgment in taking a student's bicycle, according to a report released today. The bike's owner said it was locked and that Rao was caught stealing it. Rao declined to be interviewed by university investigators.
